Power & Source of Big Ideas

Android is just "a shell". NVME support is kernel problem and it works there for some time. But if support is enabled in kernel that is part of the Android ... I don't know. Don't use it.

I'm out of ideas now.

Did you try Armbian? There are 3 different kernels for this board. Perhaps you need to set fixed CPU speed?

I2C for running OLED display is supported but needs to be enabled via armbian-config.

Personally I tested Volumio and DietPi: I started with Volumio at the beginning and finally I stayed at DietPi because a lot easier to set up: it is light and efficient. Now compare with Armbian which will run from faster to much faster (depending on application). It is also lighter, cleaner, comes...
I2C displays should work like on any other board but not sure if support is enabled by default.
Default kernel doesn't have some of the right bits turned on. I have an alternate config file I'm working on here: https://github.com/ericvh/kernel-rockchip/blob/nanopi4-linux-v4.4.y/arch/arm64/configs/nanopi4_docker_defconfig Docker works, but still working on Kubernetes. I've seen references to using the mainline kernel on these boards For example in the wiki: If you are using H3/H5/H2+ series board with mainline kernel, the easier way is using npi-config. Or when I google around it seems like there's some discussion of this in the Armbian threads (https://forum.ar...

Would prefer to be using the friendlyelec images, for sure :) FA is doing hardware design and minor board related kernel fixes while community of hackers pushes the kernel (hopefully) to the perfection. No maker has resources to fix much of the problems. Their images are on the proof of concept lev...
This is on a nanopi M4 .. no button. However, even with the eMMC out, it still won't boot from those images On M4 you can't boot from SD card when bootable eMMC is inserted. Hold boot button when powering the board otherwise it will boot from onboard flash.

Won't start? Can you get some serial console logs to see why it doesn't?

I'm also seeing this problem. In addition, I consistently have to open a new console and kill `mandb` which refuses to exit in order for my apt package installations to complete.

I ran hostapd with Armbian without any problems.

On most questions, I can't answer since I am not related to FA. Beware a few things. Software and hardware development is sometimes happening in the real-time (because "we want them now" is already too late). This means things were just designed and the first prototype was made and the inf...
1. Initial RK3399 and FA support are decent and you have www.armbian.com Linux for SBCs and a strong community around the project.

Hi, I'm using my T4 as servers. I would like to have them turn back on after they lost power so I dont have to turn them on after a power lost (happened twice this week...). You can't install Linux for Intel x64 hardware. Full potential can only be achieved with arm64 (aarch64) distro.

Armbian is always 64bit on 64bit capable devices.

I had a Raspberry Pi.

One of the main reasons why we don't provide Armbian for Raspberry Pi is because we don't want to do anything with their typical user base. RPi is a toy and you have no real use case.

Hardware makers have more troubles and have to live with this.
I thought on buying this T4 but now after reading these comments, I might hold back. I was thinking of buying and doing dual boot of desktop os (Ubuntu/Lubuntu/etc) and Android, between SD card and emcc. I also thinking of connecting ESP8266 to do the dual boot selection (set high/low on the BOOT s...

Probably not since Dietpi is official image + BASH script.

Current Armbian has enabled hugepages and all other Docker dependencies ... it this is for Docker.

It something is missing, you can recreate the image or kernel in no time.

Armbian has support for this chip as well. You can try building T3 ,T3+, M3, Fire3 ... most of the things work.
